Your Turn!

Write your favorite memory of Kim:

The VISION and how YOU can help

The vision:  Ideally: To raise sufficient funds to pay off Kim's mortgage, thereby providing a way for her to have a steady income.  Right now all rent from tenants go to the mortgage payment.  With the mortgage paid off, rent would be a source of income.

By next week we'll have a trust fund set up for Kim.  You will be able to donate via this blog, or your nearest Wells Fargo.  Details concerning the name of the trust etc will follow.  All donations are NOT tax deductible   All funds will be used for whatever it takes to keep Kim in her home.  More specifically: to pay her CNA's, to pay of her mortgage and any small medical expenses.  No funds will go to those who help with the fund raising, her personal needs (like food).  So for now, spread the word and watch for more info and the trust fund box.

Many Thanks

Many thanks to The Book Table who allowed us to use the recital hall at no charge, and for all who came to the information meeting last night.  We were able to delegate a few responsibilities, brain storm different ideas, solutions and plan for the up coming fundraiser!

13 October 2012 will be our first REAL fundraiser.  We will meet at The Oasis Book store at 7pm for an evening of desert, information and fun with friends and family.  One lucky winner will go home with a beautiful piece of art work donated by Jim Parrish.  Raffel tickets can be purchased, all revenue going to Kim's trust fund.

So save the date and spread the word!

More information to follow!

Baby Steps

FAMILY AND FRIENDS:

This is the first of many "Events" to come. Before my mission and now after for a total of 8 months I have worked for a lady with Lou Gehrig's disease. Her name is Kim Maibaum, she is in her late 50's, has a cat named Gracie, red hair and a personality to match it. A little about her is included in an article written by the Harold Journal a few years back.

The only thing that has changed is she is now in her home and she has close to no movement. In order to fund the unexpected turn of events in her life Kim sold the property she owned in Massachusetts and started living off the life insurance she had. Kim uses the insurance money to pay CNA's; allowing her to stay in her home, rather than go to a nursing facility. Now, 8 years later, she has exhausted the financial resources she has. She uses government assistance for living and medical expenses but with out another income, and running low on funds, she will no longer be at liberty to stay in her home.

That's where you come in. Spread the word and get prepared. Tomorrow be our first meeting. We will be meeting at The Book Table in Logan, UT. There we will discuss the different aspects of fund raising, including publicity, various events, and blog info. A blog will be set up so you can know more about Kim and the direction the fundraiser is taking. We can use all the help, suggestions and support we can get. Keep your eyes pealed for upcoming information and your hearts open to help her stay home.
